NaPoWriMo 2018 Day 3

-Tides-

I’m feeling
Slightly
Better
But also
Like I’m being
Lured
Into a false
Peace
So I’ll
Hold on
And
Wait
For the tide to rush in
And
Wash over me
Again

NaPoWriMo 2018 Day 2

-Illness-

How can entering a room
Cause physical pain?
Sitting at a desk
Cause such dispaire
My head and heart and self
Ache with illness
Mental in nature
With no end in sight

NaPoWriMo 2018 Day 1

-Failure-

Last year I failed
For the first time
To complete this goal
And since then I feel
Like I’ve done nothing but continue to fail
But I’ll still pick myself up
And try try again
And hope that failure
Isn’t permanent

NaPoWriMo 2017 Day 14

-Better-

Today
Was
Better.
I didn't mess up
As much
I didn't slow things down
As much
And I solved a problem on my own
Mostly
Today
Was
Better

NaPoWriMo 2017 Day 13

-Temper-

I know that my temper sometimes
Sneaks up
And rears the ugly head
But I know that I feel it when it does.
Today someone told me
That my temper was showing,
But it wasn't there.
It's spot empty
It's place vacant
So who is right?
Me?
Or the temper?

NaPoWriMo 2017 Day 12

-Your Mind-

They say when you are young
Your mind is like a sponge
And that when you're old
Your mind is a sieve
So what is your mind
When you aren't old
And you aren't young
But quarter aged?
A sponge cake?
An hour glass?
A strainer?
Because I can feel things
Drip
Drip
Dripping
Through the cracks

NaPoWriMo 2017 Day11

-Tuesday Tired-

I feel fine
Not feeling any aches and pains
Until I lie down
And relax
That's when the exhaustion sets in
My body sags
And I can no longer
Keep my eyes open

NaPoWriMo 2017 Day 10

-Help Less, Helpless-

They say to narrow my focus
That to be helpful
I need to help less
But I see the work
Piling up around me
And I can't help it
I feel so helpless.

NaPoWriMo 2017 Day 9

-I Need A Shower-

I'm feeling
Slu
Ggish
And
Slo
Ppy
And
Gross.
I think
I need
A
Shower

NaPoWriMo 2017 Day 8

-Echos-

I miss you
But not like I used to.
The ache is gone.
I'm not in pain when you aren't here.
We can go whole seasons without talking
But I can still feel the shadow of the pain.
My unconscious remembers how I felt.
And even though I don't need
Or even want you the same way,
I still want you in my life.

NaPoWriMo 2017 Day 7

-Wind-

The wind blows
And a shiver runs through me
As the howling rises
And echos in my ear.
Mother Nature is throwing a fit-
A small child in the midst of a temper tantrum.
How should we pacify her?
How should we calm the raging storm?
The answer is hidden in the gusts
Just out of reach.

NaPoWriMo 2017 Day 6

-Quick Haiku-

Here's a quick haiku
To fill the void of this day
I hope you like it

NaPoWriMo 2017 Day 5

-Knowledge Vacation-

Like a traveler packing for a month long vacation
I've shoved more knowledge into my brain
In 3 days than should reasonably fit.
Someone should sit on my head
To help me keep it all in.
Vacation is not far off,
But I'll have to finish packing first.

NaPoWriMo 2017 Day 4

-Exhausted-

Physically I haven't been exhausted
Yet
But mentally I've run a marathon
And swam the English Channel
And climbed the Statue of Liberty
And poured sand into the inner workings of my brain.
And now,
Suddenly,
I'm physically exhausted too.

NaPoWriMo 2017 Day 3

-Relearing-

Starting all over
Again
I feel as if I just learned a whole life
Only to decide I want another
Not completely new
But just different enough
It's like teaching yourself to walk
After a car crash,
It's hard but not impossible.
I'll recover
Once I get my balance again

NaPoWriMo 2017 Day 2

-Lazy Days-

Lazy days
When all I want to do
Is sit at home
And do nothing.
Sometimes I fight it
But today I gave in
And let the lazy
Have at me

NaPoWriMo 2017 Day 1

-Springing Forward-

They say
April showers, bring May flowers.
Well this April I'm not expecting rain.
My forecast is sunshine and rainbows,
My outlook positive and hopeful.
It's spring, a time for new beginnings,
As it has been every year.
And I'm ready and waiting
For the sun

NaPoWriMo 2016 Day 30

-Little Sister-

The years have passed
Both quickly and slowly.
Too long before you're too old
Not young for long enough.
I see you grow to my age
And beyond
And stay the same baby sister to me.
21 is still a child, but now an adult.

NaPoWriMo 2016 Day 29

-Beliefs-

I'm not sure what I believe in.
God, or god, Gods or gods, or some universal force.
Or a monster that floats in the air made of noodles and meatballs.
I have my convictions.
And my personal rules and morals.
But who am I to say
That I know what is out there?
How can one book get it ALL right?
All the best stories are at least a trilogy.
So there must be something more.
At least for me.

NaPoWriMo 2016 Day 28

-Stormy Time-

The thick rolling clouds
Turn day into night
Dragging the day out.
The electricity in the air
Makes my head fuzzy
Breaking my already tenuous focus
On my work.
A storm is brewing
And so is a nap
